From April 7th to 14th, Zhu Da, Chancellor of our university, led a delegation to visit Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain, Toulouse School of Business (Barcelona Campus), and University of Verona, Italy on invitation.

At Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain, Zhu Da met with its President, Vice President and other leaders. During the talks, Zhu Da recognized the achievements of the cooperation between the two universities, and expressed the hope that they could broaden cooperation areas and improve their cooperation level on the basis of the existing cooperation. Dean of the School of Navigation, Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and the Principal of Faculty of Maritime and Transportation, Ningbo University presented the cooperation and achievements made between and by the two schools in the joint education of postgraduate students, the application for sino-foreign cooperative school projects, and the construction of scientific research platform, etc., and reached consensus on the proposed cooperation projects such as the joint education of doctoral students, faculty visits and the joint construction of laboratories. Director of the President's Office of the University, Director of International Affairs Office, Deputy Dean of International Affairs of School of Navigation, former Dean of International Affairs of School of Navigation, and Wang Jue, Chinese project coordinator of International Affairs, attended the talks. At Toulouse School of Business (Barcelona Campus), the Principal received Zhu Da’s delegation and detailed Toulouse School of Business. Zhu Da put forth expectations for the cooperation between the two universities, hoping that the two universities can make new progress in cooperative projects such as student exchanges and summer schools.  

At University of Verona, Italy, Zhu Da met with its Executive Vice President and other relevant leaders. Zhu Da believed that Ningbo University and University of Verona were both young and rapidly developing universities, and there were many similarities and a wide range of cooperation fields between them. He hoped that the two universities could carry out more exchanges and cooperation in such fields as talent cultivation and scientific research, and welcomed the teachers and students of University of Verona to our university to participate in summer exchange activities in August this year. After the talks, Zhu Da and Diago Bengali witnessed the signing of the school-level agreement and the agreement on the summer school program between the School of Humanities and Communication, Ningbo University and the School of Foreign Language and Literature, University of Verona. Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, University of Verona, Bi Yuling, professor of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, professor of the School of Culture and Civilizations, University of Verona, Director of the International Affairs Office, University of Verona attended the talks.

Representatives from the Party (School) Office, the International Office, Faculty of Maritime and Transportation, and School of Humanities and Communication of our university had visits with the delegation.

News links: Faculty of Maritime and Transportation, Ningbo University and School of Navigation, Polytechnic University of Catalonia have carried out a series of faculty exchanges and student joint education activities. Since 2017, the two sides have sent 6 young teachers to each other for advanced study and training for more than half a year, offered one double degree program for postgraduate students and doctoral students respectively, and jointly educated and trained 12 postgraduate students and doctoral students cumulatively. Foreign visiting experts held academic lectures at Ningbo University twice every year, undertook three scientific research projects with our university in the recent three years, including cooperation in and research on the port group evolution and the navigation safety risk assessment, co-publication of 21 high-level papers on Transportation Research Part E, Transport Policy and other first-class academic journals, and three professors from Polytechnic University of Catalonia serving as academic backbones of National “111” Discipline Innovation and Talent Introduction Base for Safety Guarantee and Intelligent Operation of Cross-sea Bridges. At present, Faculty of Maritime and Transportation, Ningbo University and Polytechnic University of Catalonia are jointly applying for a sino-foreign cooperative education project in the major of “Transportation Engineering” at the postgraduate level.
