Natural Science
Natural science research is an important part of the research work at Ningbo University.
In recent years, it has achieved a comprehensive breakthrough in Nature Award, Invention Award, and Progress Award in the national science and technology sector. The level of innovation in scientific and technological achievements has continuously improved; the number and quality of high-level science and technology projects have also been improved. The research funding has continued to grow, and the ability to assume research on major national technological innovations has been strengthened.
Centering upon the country's requirements of the country's building "Double First-Class” universities, NBU endeavors to recruit first-class professionals, set up first-class teams and platforms, work for first-class projects, produce first-class achievements and promote first-class industry-university collaboration. In this context, the school's technological innovation conditions and environment are constantly improving.
With the incentive policy of “winning national awards, cultivating high-level sci-tech achievements to win the awards and highlighting the characteristics of disciplines and scientific research”, the research departments of the NBU conscientiously studies the procedures of applying for national awards and analyzes the state of scientific and technological achievements of the school, striving for national awards for scientific and technological achievements.
In the past five years, NBU has won 3 national awards and 40 provincial and ministerial-level sci-tech awards.
The university encourages cross-disciplinary research and team building, and has seen high-level research papers and achievements come out time and again.
NBU carries out a development strategy of “seeking for top-level sci-tech research while addressing reality problems”. It centers around the development needs of local industries and economic and social undertaking, eying the frontiers of disciplines and national science and technology development goals. By relying on innovation platforms and academic research teams, and organizing seminars, salons and consultations, the university makes careful plans to secure major sci-tech projects. Meanwhile, it strengthens cooperation with local industries and leading enterprises, and actively organizes interdisciplinary research teams to conduct targeted research.
The university has made breakthroughs in obtaining The National Natural Science Foundation's major equipment project, the national key research and development plan project, the National Natural Science Foundation's major international cooperation project, the National Natural Science Foundation Excellent Youth Fund, the National “863 Program” social development project, and the National Science and Technology Support Program's urbanization project and a number of major ministerial and municipal-level projects of the National Soft Science Program.
In a nutshell, the university has joined the first ranks of Zhejiang-based universities in obtaining high-level research projects.
The annual research funding coming in to the university exceeds 212 million yuan.
