On the morning of September 27, the university held the Internationalization Work Conference of the Second Half of 2018. Vice President, Feng Zhimin hosted the conference and made a speech.
At the conference, Principal of the International Cooperation Department introduced the relationship among internationalization work and talent cultivation, subject and major construction, scientific research, teaching staff construction, etc. and analyzed the internationalization progress and shortcoming of the university in recent years through comparing with other universities within the province. In order to promote the informatization and response to “one stop，one trip，one paper”, the international conference application system, the record system for going abroad on business, and the online application system for students going abroad and other informatization work were introduced as well.
Vice President, Feng Zhimin fully affirmed the university's achievements obtained in internationalization work. He stressed that as the university has been included into the construction of“world-class universities and world-class disciplines”, it needs internationalization for support in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance, etc., and should promote the internationalization of students, teaching staff and scientific research through internationalization. He pointed out that internationalization should aim at the cultivation of first-class talents, vigorously promote the overseas communication and exchange of local students, and the work for overseas students should stabilize the scale, optimize the structure and improve the quality; the realization of first-class discipline construction needs support from internationalization; first-class international education is inseparable from international scientific research cooperation; first-class disciplines and majors require first-class teaching staff; and first-class internationalization needs first-class management for supporting.
At the conference, Vice President, Feng Zhimin required that all departments and colleges should firstly deepen cooperation, build brands and consolidate existing brands; secondly, develop projects, expand markets and seek new breakthroughs in international cooperation; thirdly, focus on key points, pursue first class and improve the overall level of internationalization; fourthly, improve mechanisms, coordinate assessment and promote the sustainable development of internationalization.
During the conference, the leaders of relevant colleges and departments made active speeches and exchanges and put forward advice and suggestions.
The leaders in charge of foreign affairs and secretaries for foreign affairs as well as relevant principals of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, International Office, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, Science and Technology Office and Humanities and Social Sciences Department attended the conference.
