On October 12th, the expert panel of the construction of colleges and universities with international characteristics in Zhejiang Province came to our school to carry out the mid-term research on our school’s construction situation of colleges and universities with international characteristics. The expert panel was led by Shu Peidong, director of Foreign Affairs Department of Zhejiang Provincial Education Department. Shao Qianjun, vice president of Ningbo University, attended and presided over the report-back meeting of the mid-term research.
The expert panel first listened to the report on the international achievements of Ningbo University in the past two years, such as talent training, construction of teaching staff group, development of scientific research, discipline construction, as well as the party-building work of the sino-foreign cooperative projects and institutions of Ningbo University, the education management work of international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the management work of international teaching staffs, the work related to “the Belt and Road Initiative” and so on. Then, the expert panel gave feedback on the situation of the research. They gave full affirmation to the overall work of our school’s construction of colleges and universities with international characteristics, and at the same time, they put forward the improvement suggestions for the questions found in the research. The expert panel hoped that in order to better serve the development of the country, local and school, the Ningbo University should have a higher goal, a more optimized international index, a more extensive scope of internationalization, more prominent characteristics of internationalization and more strict education management of international students in the process of promoting internationalization.
Shao Qianjun, vice president of Ningbo University, pointed out in his speech that Ningbo University has attached great importance to internationalization since its founding. Since our school was selected as one of the universities with international characteristics in Zhejiang province in 2016, the school has paid more attention to international school running and has taken the all-round internationalization as our school’s development strategy. After this research, the school will further absorb the advice of the expert panel, conduct overall planning, condense characteristics, make concerted efforts, and promote the school’s long-term development together.
Prior to the report-back meeting, the expert panel also went to the campus of botanical garden to have a field visit of Ningbo University-University of Angers Joint Institute at Ningbo.
Heads of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, the Organization Department, the International Cooperation Department, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, the Personnel Department, the Student Division, the Planning and Finance Division, the Security Department, the Logistics Division, the School of International Exchange, the Joint Institute, and other departments and colleges also attended this report-back meeting.
