IANOVAH RABARIVONY, a Secondary School Student of Confucius Institute of Tamatave University, Madagascar Won the First Prize in the Final of the 12th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students

On November 1, the promotion contest of the 12th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students organized by the People’s Government of Henan Province ended in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. 124 secondary school students from 119 overseas qualifying regions in 105 countries attended the competition in China. IANOVAH RABARIVONY, a secondary school student selected by Confucius Institute of Tamatave University, Madagascar was qualified for the global top 10 and won the first prize in the final after the "bridge-crossing" competition (written test, speech, and talent), the semi-final and the final.

With the theme of "Using Chinese to Dream the Future", the competition tested the contestants' Chinese language ability, knowledge of China’s national conditions, level of mastering Chinese cultural skills, and the ability in comprehensive learning and practical application of Chinese language and culture through different forms of competition such as theme speech, talent show, knowledge quiz, etc.

In June this year, the Confucius Institute of Tamatave University hosted the preliminary competition of the Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in Madagascar. After selection, IANOVAH RABARIVONY from Fineville Zhongshan School, a teaching center under the Confucius Institute of Tamatave University, stood out and won the first prize in the Madagascar competition area and went to China on behalf of Madagascar. In Zhengzhou, IANOVAH RABARIVONY successfully advanced to the final as No.1 in the African group and won the first prize with stable performance after layers of competition.

In the competition, secondary school students with excellent ability in Chinese from all over the world gathered in China. Through the bridge of Chinese, they could learn from each other, enhance mutual understanding and interpret the charm of Chinese and Chinese culture in their own way. IANOVAH RABARIVONY’s excellence performance in the competition on behalf of Madagascar is not only an honor for herself, but also a result of the Confucius Institute in Chinese teaching and Chinese culture promotion in Madagascar. In the future, more and more students in Madagascar will be encouraged to learn Chinese, and the charm of Chinese will spread all over Madagascar.
