Entrusted by the Health Commission of Zhejiang Province, Ningbo University-University of Angers Joint Institute has been offering French language training for many batches of medical teams aiding Africa since 2018, among them the 19th batch has received General Secretary of CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping’s letter of encouragement. Upon receiving the mission, Wang Sheng, who is in charge of French language training, immediately organized the training group, designed curricula and established the training system consisting of basic French -- medical French -- outpatient French -- Africa overview -- assessment upon completion. Aiming to help the medical staff to rapidly improve their French language skills, and adhering to the spirit of “courage, sacrifice, profession and boundless love” typical of the Chinese aiding medical team, the language training group travels across continents to work in the name of love.
The training group devotes wholeheartedly to researching pedagogics for effective language teaching. In view of the importance of outpatient dialogue practices, by taking advantage of the large number of French-speaking African students in Ningbo University, Wang Sheng invited them to participate in teaching and have one-on-one dialogue practices with the medical team. At the beginning of 2020, when the outbreak of COVID-19 forced all classroom training to a stop in spite of the scheduled African trip of the medical team, the training group overcame multiple difficulties by coming up with a set of online courses in a short time, thus guaranteed the trip to eventually set off on time.
