On January 11th, Mr. Shao Qianjun, Vice President of Ningbo University, visited School of Medicine, Tianjing University, to learn about their experience in international cooperation. Mr. Shao and his colleagues were received by Mr. Hu Wenping, Vice President of Tianjing University.
Mr. Hu Wenping gave a general introduction of his university and shared School of Medicine’s educational philosophy and their experience in faculty development, curriculum design, teaching, academic research, and international cooperation.
Mr. Shao acknowledged the host’s hospitality and pointed out that Ningbo university upheld international cooperation as an important strategy, and that after the establishment of the Base for Introducing Marine Biopharmaceutical Professionals, the university had been striving to build a national-level demonstration school for international cooperation. This visit, Mr. Shao said, was an excellent opportunity to learn about Tianjing University’s experience.
Accompanied by Jay Siegel, a professor of School of Medicine, Mr. Shao also visited the school’s laboratory center. The professor introduced the school’s management model, the bachelor, master, and doctor programs taught in English, the teamwork-based and problem-oriented educational approach, and the experience in bachelors’ lab-based education, global recruitment, etc.
The universities’ leaders later exchanged their views on resource allocation, recruitment standard, financial reward for foreign deans and researchers, Chinese-Western cultural exchanges, and classes for international students.
Representatives of the International Cooperation Office, Research Department, Academic Affairs Office, and the School of Marine Sciences also took part in the visit.
