He have been studying bacterial growth and division over the past 30 years. His lab is exploring how bacterial cell envelopes changes during host infection by pathogens. He have made major contributions in the 1. field of microbiology. Major findings include: 2.mechanisms of surface recognition by bacterial proteins. 3.the control of enzymatic activities during cell division. 4.new software for the structural analysis of bacterial pepetidoglycans. 5.Mechanism of bacterial antimicrobial resistance and virulence. 6.Characterization of enzymes building bacterial cell walls. 7.Identification of bacteriophages with therapeutic potential. Stéphane has published dozens of SCI papers in journals such as Nature Chemical Biology, EMBO Journal, Nature Communications, PLoS Pathogens, eLife, and Nature Microbiology.
