报告主题：STEM教育和教师教育——机遇与挑战（STEM Education and Teacher Education – Opportunities and Challenges）
报告人：李业平教授（Yeping Li is a Professor of Mathematics Education at the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture at Texas A&M University, USA. He has also been named by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission as “Eastern Scholar” Chair Professor at Shanghai Normal University, China, since 2016. His research interests include mathematics education, STEM education and teacher education. He is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of STEM Education and Journal for STEM Education Research published by Springer, and is also the editor of several monograph series including, Advances in STEM Education published by Springer,Mathematics Teaching and Learningand Advances in Teaching and Teacher Educationpublished by Sense Publishers. In addition to co-editing over 10 books and special journal issues, he has published more than 100 articles in topic areas that he is interested in. He has also organized and chaired many group sessions at various national and international professional conferences, such as ICME-10 (2004), ICME-11 (2008), and ICME-12 (2012). He received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Studies in Education from the University of Pittsburgh, USA.）
主要内容：The emerging field of STEM (later also STEAM, STREAM) education presents some fascinating opportunities for transforming school education, not simply due to the fact that STEM is important for students’ learning now and in the future. Historically, STEM education as a disciplinary-based education has long been in place (as S.T.E.M. education). Recent calls for a greater focus on STEM integration havegenerated more and more interest in exploring and understanding specific forms and approaches of this movement, andits benefits and challengesto educating students in the 21st century. In this talk, I will provide a brief review of STEM education and research development, and discuss possible opportunities and challengespresented to teacher education.
